This is my response to the prompt for 4/26/22 which was to write an epic/homeric simile. It's like backpacking
in the rain without waterproof gear with your pack on backwards gaining water weight with every step and you cannot put it down until you reach your destination, a location which keeps changing to a place more distant just when you think your arrival is imminent, aware all the while that when you reach said destination you must then set up camp and prepare your meal and hoist your food out of reach of bears and leave no trace and you cannot even build a fire for comfort, because everything is wet and you know you will get no real rest until the sun comes out but you chose to hike during monsoon season. Because you love hiking. You masochist.
